You Have Options

“Each Day a New Journey Begins”, or so my coffee cup says.

Choices, options and boundaries, what do these three things have in common? You decide what these are, you make choices, you set boundaries. How hard can that be?

One of the most difficult aspects of parenting is letting go. From those first wobbly steps, you know your child will have to fall a few times before they get the hang of walking. It hurts to watch someone get banged up from life. They say people learn from the school of hard knocks. God, as our Heavenly Father, has empathy for our human condition. He is the teacher. He demonstrates kindness and love through His patience with us humanoids. He observes our stumbles. Metaphorically, He picks us up and puts us back on our feet. Though we often make choices that land us back on our butt.

After the morning fog rolls off, your day starts with a myriad of “options”. Questions that have to be answered. What, where, when , why and how? You have to provide the answers. What to wear, what to say, where to go, when to be there, why is the light red or how am I going to get out of this mess?…handle this problem…pay this debt? We ask ourselves questions constantly.

Some how we average 100-300 questions a day, speaking. A three year old will ask hundreds of questions because he/she is looking for answers to life! Children are eternally curious. We can learn from them. Be curious about who you are, why you’re here, how you got here, where is God, what does He want from me? Bottom line, your personal eternity depends on the answers to these questions.

So back to choices. Like a new Prius Prime, we come with options. We have the option to seek God.

Matthew 7:7

Ask, and you will be given what you ask for. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened.
