Children not so special
Born into a traditional blue collar family, I was offered the 1950’s American childhood. It was complete with stay at home mom and domineering head of household. The abuse was probably also common. Children were to be seen and not heard, “property” or chattel. Not all families followed these rules, but was common. I’d say the world is just as bad today, no, it’s worse. Our 2023 world is filled with greed, and vile acts of murder, sexual perversion and lust). YUCK. If my world view is: ” it’s all Good.” Then I’m deceiving myself. Father God, Please change my world view!
Romans 12:2 Amplified Bible
And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be [c]transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you].
Finding Values
First: never expect your moral code to exactly match someone else’s. We are individuals uniquely made. Second: the Bible is a LOUD, relevant Book. It speaks on every topic. It presents God’s moral code. ( the 10 commandments. Exodus 20) Third: Our redemption is about our ability to break God’s moral laws and separation from God and His needed forgiveness. Freedom to love and be loved! Third: Values are found in seeking wisdom. Don’t you hope your neighbors believe in; Thou shall not Seal; Thou shall not bear false witness; and that murder is a real bad thing.
So Lord help me to agree with you.
Planet earth is in a world of hurts. WE absolutely need YOU. I need you and my neighbors need you. Help me to see them as you see them. Change my world view. Love others through me!
Whoever finds his life [in this world] will [eventually] lose it [through death], and whoever loses his life [in this world] for My sake will find it [that is, life with Me for all eternity].
